Power Yoga is a practice about breathing and moving our bodies as a means to quiet our minds. As we deepen our breath we are able to move closer to the edge of our comfort zone without restriction. In a power yoga class we challenge our physical limits and explore our mental limitations, breaking through into new possibilities.
Beyond increasing your stability and core strength, we believe these classes help us connect to our center, leaving us feeling more like ourselves.
A typical "POWER" class begins with a few minutes of breathing and centering. We then move into a series of invigorating Sun Salutations to wake up the body. During the practice you will experience a variation of strength and balancing postures to help cultivate mental stability and help ground ourselves while the back bends will ignite the nervous system. Our hips will start to open and release as we move into some deeper postures on the floor. We always end with several minutes of deep relaxation to seal the effects of the practice.
Our Intro into Power classes are powerful, learning experiences in which you will re-vitalize your body, find out what it is capable of, and how it works.
We will begin explore the traditional asanas of Yoga. All intro classes are designed to give you the time to help you master form, understand how to breathe, help you build confidence in the postures and experience the wonders of Yoga. This class is conducted at a more relaxed pace where students are encouraged to ask questions. Ideal for anyone!
Intro into Inversions is a mix between a Power class and a workshop. We start each class with a few mintues of breathing, sun salutations and some balancing postures to help culitivate mental stability and ground ourselves.
We then will expand and build into inversions, backbends and arm balancing postures at a more relaxed pace by breaking down postures; giving each student the opportunity to explore without a time limit.
Students are encouraged to ask questions. This class is ideal for anyone, especially those looking to grow their practice a little more but might be hesitant to try an inversion in a normal class setting.
Power 1 is comfortable for all levels of practitioners, incorporating breath and flow. Moving at a moderate rate, students can look forward to building different variations of the poses.
Power 2 is a step above Veda 1. This class is geared towards introducing more dynamic and intermediate poses to the practice. A faster flow is incorporated, allowing the poses to evolve with breath and movement and to create more of a challenge.
Power 3 is where you will expand on your strength and stamina as you build into more advanced postures (inversions, backbends, and arm-balances) multiple times throughout the class. You will still get a great flow, we are just kicking it up a knotch! *10 classes of Flow Level 1/2 or 6 months of Yoga experience recommended.
Kids Yoga is a fun, creative approach to yoga that can be very helpful for children whose bodies are still developing. The use of animated poses and basic stretching exercises promote strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness. Breathing and visualization techniques teach kids how to focus, relax and develop self-control.
Kids will improve concentration and focus, stimulate their imagination and help to release energy in a fun, safe environment. Using interactive games and animated postures, kids learn about animals, nature and basic anatomy through playing yoga.
